Introduction:

In a recent conversation, A and B delve into the intriguing world of hermetic philosophy and its connection to rituals for letting go. They discuss the principles of mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender. A profound experience during breathwork leads to a realization about the connection between ears and the heart. Inspired by their conversation, they introduce a book on hermetic teachings and express their eagerness to explore this ancient wisdom further.

Rituals for Letting Go: Michael and Prem discuss various rituals for releasing things, such as burying, burning, or spreading ashes in the ocean. They explore the idea of direction and cultivating new life from what is let go.

Hermetic Philosophy: Prem is unfamiliar with the term but relates it to teachings on Platonic solids. B explains that hermetic philosophy encompasses esoteric knowledge and the laws of the universe. They discuss the multidimensional nature of these laws and their relevance to a psychedelic experience.

The Seven Hermetic Principles: Michael induces the seven hermetic principles - mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender.

The Power of Listening: A shares a trippy experience during breathwork, where they realize the connection between ears and the heart.

In this conversation, the speakers discuss the concept of hermetic philosophy and esoteric knowledge. They explore the seven hermetic principles, including the principle of mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender. The speakers also touch upon the importance of understanding these principles in relation to a psychedelic experience. They delve into the idea of keeping one's lips closed unless someone is genuinely interested in hearing, emphasizing the value of being heard and the connection between ears and the heart. The conversation concludes with a discussion about the lips of wisdom being closed except to the ears of understanding. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/zenbrain/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/zenbrain/support

Transcript

0:00:00 - Michael: Maybe I should bury it in, like, one of those time capsules, you know?

0:00:03 - Prem: Well, you know, we were talking about rituals to get rid of things the other day, and there was something about when we talked about when people die and we bury them and how actually that seems somewhat cruel to keep them there versus doing something to release them, like burning them or spreading the ashes in the ocean. Well, then you have to think about that as direction kind of a thing. But otherwise yeah, otherwise you would burn.

0:00:28 - Michael: It.

0:00:31 - Prem: Or put it into a boat and push it away and shoot arrows into it on fire.

0:00:38 - Michael: Yeah.

0:00:39 - Prem: And watch it fade and go out. Or you grow a plant out of it by planting it in the ground. You plant it and you cultivate it. So when you heard of the word hermetic philosophy or Esoteric knowledge, what initially rises up in you? Hermetic knowledge, hermetic philosophy. Hermetic philosophy or esoteric knowledge.

0:01:13 - Michael: I'm not too familiar with those words, but I know of the teachings he had this book, this cool little picture book on the Platonic solids.

0:01:22 - Prem: Okay.

0:01:23 - Michael: And so that's kind of what it.

0:01:24 - Prem: Makes me think of that's totally in the same realm. Absolutely.

0:01:27 - Michael: Yeah. Since you said Esoteric is like the okay.

0:01:31 - Prem: Sacred geometry is definitely esoteric. Same with astrology.

0:01:38 - Michael: Yeah, but it sounds like the laws of the universe, like how things work.

0:01:43 - Prem: The laws of the universe. And not only that, but multidimensional, meaning the laws of the third dimension, the fourth dimension, the laws of the mind, the laws of and that's what I like about this, is it talks about the different laws, because the laws in the third dimension are not the same laws, say, in the fourth dimension or in the law of vibration. Those laws don't apply directly in each one, and they all have to be abided by.

0:02:08 - Prem: And that's the kind of language that you get with hermeticism.

0:02:13 - Michael: So it's pronounced kabalan. How do you say kaib?

0:02:16 - Prem: The Cabalian is how I say it. Or the Cabalian.

0:02:19 - Michael: Cabalian.

0:02:20 - Prem: Yeah. And it's mainly made up of seven hermetic principles. Principle of mentalism, principle of correspondence, principle of vibration, principle of polarity, principle of rhythm, the principle of cause and effect, and the principle of gender. It's a very foundational.

0:02:37 - Michael: We talk about the principle of correspondence.

0:02:40 - Prem: Yes. Isn't that the as above, so below? Yes. Mentalism is that all things are mine, our entire reality is mind, and that's enough. That's a big one, because that's perception alone. So the law of mentalism and the principle of vibration, principle of correspondence. Yeah, this is good stuff. Polarity, meaning if there's can't have an up without a down, you can have an inner without an outer, you can't have a space without a space outside of that space.

0:03:18 - Prem: That's why I was asking the question, how do these principles of the universe relate to a psychedelic experience? Because they are going to be experienced. And if you don't know what they are, then I can imagine that being a little confusing. But if you at least have that guideline or that benchmark be like, oh, I get it. This is the law of vibration, or this is the law of rhythm, cause and effect, et cetera.

0:03:49 - Prem: So I dig it, man.

0:03:52 - Michael: Yeah.

0:03:54 - Prem: I might really spend more time on this, actually, as far as, like, sharing.

0:04:01 - Michael: I want to read the chapters.

0:04:02 - Prem: Yes, please do.

0:04:04 - Michael: At the very beginning, in the front page, it says, the lips of wisdom are closed except to the ears of understanding. I feel like that is like that's very true.

0:04:18 - Prem: Say that one more time.

0:04:19 - Michael: The lips of wisdom are closed except to the ears of understanding.

0:04:28 - Prem: Except to the ears of understanding. Makes me think of if you have ears to hear yeah. Let them hear.

0:04:40 - Michael: Yeah. And it's also wise to keep your lips closed unless somebody is really hearing.

0:04:47 - Prem: You wasting and dumping your spreading your energy out.

0:04:52 - Michael: Yeah. And that's wise to know that.

0:04:54 - Prem: Okay.

0:05:02 - Michael: Which kind of makes me think of not speaking unless somebody directly asks you.

0:05:09 - Prem: The question or they're specifically looking for an answer.

0:05:14 - Prem: Because you know when you're speaking, when the person really wants to hear what you have to say versus times when you want to say something and they really maybe don't care.

0:05:21 - Michael: They're not like, inquiring about it.

0:05:23 - Prem: Yeah. And sometimes it opens up because they want it. And that's something that I've had to accept it sometimes when I'm talking a lot, it's like, no, they're asking for this.

0:05:32 - Michael: Yeah. It feels right to talk.

0:05:34 - Prem: It feels right to talk when you're being heard.

0:05:37 - Michael: Yeah. I had this crazy trippy experience the other day when I was doing breath work and it was all about hearing and how your ears are. I was shown that your ears are connected to your heart because the earth is spelt ear with a th at the end.

0:05:57 - Prem: Interesting.

0:05:59 - Michael: And if the earth is like our heart, that's what I was shown. Right.

0:06:03 - Prem: Heart. So ear is in heart as well.

0:06:08 - (C): Yeah.

0:06:08 - Michael: And like hearth.

0:06:14 - Prem: Right?

0:06:15 - Michael: Hearth. Hearth. It's a heart home. Right. So if your ears are connected to your heart, then how to open your heart through your ears is through music.

0:06:28 - Prem: And listening in general.

0:06:30 - Prem: Like, for example, we have these birds around here. One of my favorite meditations, there are two. Try to listen to the thing that's furthest away. And what you do when you do that is you layer on just listening of how loud it actually is. But what that does is bring you into the now, which is the field.

0:06:47 - Michael: Of the heart here.

0:06:51 - Prem: I'm here.

0:06:53 - (C): Yeah, exactly.

0:06:55 - Michael: I'm present.

0:06:56 - Prem: I love that.

0:06:59 - Michael: So you're receiving the gift that is opening.

0:07:01 - Prem: I'm receiving now, not giving. That's great.

0:07:05 - Michael: Or like because I'm receiving the gift.

0:07:08 - Prem: I'm the state of hearing now.

0:07:10 - (C): Yeah.

0:07:11 - Michael: Which everything is.

0:07:13 - Prem: And here with an R. I'm wondering if here has anything to do with receive because you are receiving. All right.

0:07:25 - (C): Yeah.

0:07:25 - Michael: I think here is like H-E-R-E.

0:07:28 - Prem: It's like a very sacred here and here. I hear.

0:07:37 - Michael: Here and here.

0:07:38 - Prem: There's, here and then heart here.

0:07:45 - Michael: And I'm here just going along with that. The lips of wisdom are closed except to the years of understanding. Yeah. The experience I had was like I couldn't even try to describe it.

0:08:06 - Prem: Yeah.

0:08:07 - Michael: Very spiritual. Poetic. Where you almost feel like you're like I almost felt like I was channeling ancient poetry that's connected with the ancient English and where it goes back even like mushroom. No, I was just breath. Weed.

0:08:30 - Prem: Weed and breath.

0:08:31 - Michael: Breath.

0:08:32 - Prem: Okay.

0:08:32 - Michael: Breath for like, 30 minutes or an hour and then oh, perfect.

0:08:36 - Prem: Okay..

0:08:39 - Michael: Introduction. That's a weird word. We take great pleasure in presenting to the attention of students and investigators of the secret doctrines this little work based upon the world old Hermetic teachings. There has been so little written upon this subject notwithstanding the countless references to the teachings in the many works upon occultism that the many earnest searchers after the arcane truth will doubtless welcome the appearance of this present.
